As I think I've mentioned here before, I have never, not once, in 19 years been able to conclude a successful MG transaction (not just to the most common destination, but to other destinations as well) - On the two occasions the transfer seemed to be successful, I got a call from MG hours later telling me that their security department "wasn't comfortable with the transaction", and I had to go get my funds back.

I've had 200% better luck with WU over the same 19 years, a few problems along the way with a flagged receiver, a limited number of pickup locations at the destination that are too far for the receiver to bother traveling to, misspelled receiver names (provided by the jewelry vendor - I always triple check all of the information supplied for making the donation and write it on a piece of notepad paper to take with me), but of the hundreds of WU donations I've made to date, I've only experienced perhaps ten, twelve tops of these sorts of problems.

Here lately, even WU seems to be making it almost impossible to buy genuine native made silver and turquoise jewelry from our friends who ply their wares from the area where such items are crafted - I had a perfectly good transaction yesterday, with both the agent and the  WU brick and mortar location, the agent on the phone, and the WU website indicating funds had arrived and were ready for pickup, but the receiver wasn't able to pick them up, and when I went back to the brick and mortar location, all was well in their WU computer.  I checked with the jewelry vendor again (my wife loves that Mayan calendar themed stuff), but no dice - On his end, the receiver was told there was no such tracking number.  In order to get my funds back (minus the transaction fee, of course), I had to get on the line with the agent at the brick and mortar location on speakerphone and speak with a supervisor at WU, who of course needed my name, address, and phone number to look up the transaction, have the brick and mortar location agent review my driver's license to make sure it was actually me who was the sender (this is why I always use my real name / address / phone when sending, if you don't, and something goes wrong, you can't get your funds back), then allowed me to fill out a receiver form from me to me, and return my funds, without any explanation of why the tracking number wasn't available.

I'm going to try MG again tomorrow morning with a different vendor who's super-well reviewed here (but who only accepts MG), she's told me she has the necklace I'm looking for in stock, but for God's sake, I shouldn't have to take a freaking Ks@l@l 30 minutes before walking into the MG brick and mortar location simply to transfer a relatively small amount of funds.  I know that a lot of this has to do with the war on drugs our neighbors, but MG and WU are getting almost impossible for me to use.

If anyone has any handy-dandy methods, tricks, spells, or persuasions they'd be willing to share for MG in particular, I would love to hear them - I'd really like to order this necklace tomorrow so that it can be delivered on Thursday, and there is another necklace and a set of earrings I'd like to order from the same vendor next week.

Thanks all, and have a good 'un.

Not trying to hijack your topic but didn't want to start a new one as I have a simple question that maybe you @Back2Good can answer.

Is it normal for WU not being able to send USD to other countries? MG allows this but recently with WU they said couldn't be sent as usd. So is that pretty standard for WU?

Oh it let me send, just not as usd. Had to choose the currency of that country. I guess it doesn't matter and I got a little concerned for nothing. The usd would have to be converted/exchanged anyway, whether by WU or the receiver.

Thanks @Back2Good

edit: went to WU website like you said and it differs depending on the country your sending to. So everything should be good. Thanks again

I just had a horrible experience with MG similar to other money transfers discussed here. The payment to vendor showed "ready for pickup", but it was not available. I called and was told to get a refund from the brick and mortar where I had made transfer. When that didn't work, I was told by MG that they had to give me a new ref. # for a transaction from me to me. When I went to pick up those funds, it didn't work either. Thankfully, the clerks at the store worked with me and after the 4th phone call to MG central, I was finally able to get my refund. I absolutely HATE MG, but it seems that we are stuck with it. There's got to be a better way!

I read somewhere in the forums yesterday about how easy Walgreen's WU kiosks are to use - Trust me, try them.  I used one today and I'll never send WU any other way.  No dealing with an agent, and the only interaction with the store clerk is to pay for the transfer at the photo department cash register.  I could probably have added 10 years to my life span if they'd had these 10 years ago

Nothing was in the system. It was a huge mess. I had no clue I was signing up for Real ID. They asked me for the exact same documents that I needed for a State ID Card.

  13. B @ bigblueallda: @drjimmy1964 In my state to get a Real ID, I need SS card, Birth Certificate and two proofs of residency. Which I am positive I had to provide to get a new ID when it had been expired.
