Moneygram Problems

So glad you were able to get it figured out. /default_smile.png

I wasn't as fortunate.

I just tried to pay for an order with MG online and it was refused /default_sad.png really don't want to go to a shop to do it seems very intimidating.

Go to Walmart. It's fine. The people there are just doing their job. They don't care. It'll be fine.

So, not sure if I should make this its own thread, like a MG Vcom thread? Anyway, going forward it looks like Moneygram Vcom machines are no longer capable of sending to a different country (according to two different mg reps Ive talked to and personal experience). Face to face and the red phone are still good, but no more Vcom, at least going south of the border.

I wouldn't worry about a seperately thread. Probably not enough post activity on that specific element of MG. In fact, this would be a good time for me to work on rearranging and organizing the various payment threads anyway. Lots of odds and ends floating around in that area, LOL. Thanks for the update though. Yet more screw tightening where the flow of funds is concerned.

No problem. I think the sy guys are gonna have to get some stateside receivers or watch their business dry up.

That seems like a good idea - but - the cost to do an MG transfer from within USA to USA is $20 - and that is to only transfer $200.  So, by the time that you have shipping and transfer fees together, you would be spending between $75-$85.  Boo.

Ouch. I didn't realize state to state was so much. Still, better than not being able to do business at all, though, no? On the positive side, domestic receivers would open WU back up, too...

Apparently, Moneygram is down today. So I sent the money and now it is pending until they fix whatever issue they are having!! Ugh! I have the worst luck!

I guess no one else but me did. Right in the middle of the transaction, MG shut down! I had already paid so the gut calls MG, who told him that the transfer had gone through and gave him a reference # to give to me. I did not get a receipt or anything. So I checked later to see if MG was picked up and the customer service rep told me it had been cancelled!! Mind you, I already paid. So I went back to Walmart and they looked it up and it said "transaction pending"!?! The manager said they had issues with MG all day and that it should go through by tomorrow. She reassured me that it would be resolved one way or another(either receiver gets funds or I get refund). Damn! It is unbelievable how one person could have such bad luck!! Not just with this kind of thing but with everything lately! Ugh! I guess all I can do is hope it works out. Anyway, thanks for reading and if you have had a similar experience, please share!

Sorry to hear about all your trouble, Lucy. I would like to hear if others had any issues as well.

I know how you feel. Sometimes it seems that one thing goes wrong then bad luck keeps on coming.

Keep your chin up, it will get better!

is the MG transaction at a Walmart really better than a CVS? or Urban better than suburban? I've only noticed differences with the operator/agent i get. I use the same MG phone station repeatedly

does a minor spelling error in the sender's name matter that much? like to know, otherwise I'd have to go back and fix it with MG, takes a while

Spelling errors are a crucial mistake

V74 I used to go to the big big box without any problems. Go when they're busy, less likely to ask questions. But in the end find some place you feel comfortable with. Also you may consider an a k a. Has it's pluses and minuses.

I just re-read your post and mistakenly thought receiver, which could be a big boo boo! however if you spelled your own name wrong or an AKA I would'nt worry. Hopefully you didn't spell your own name wrong /default_smile.png Just sayin' ya got to be careful.
