Jewy's Angels - A Place For Classy Dames

Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo was a success! I had curled my hair yesterday afternoon (I use the Goody Beach Wave Styler - they've discontinued it, but you can still find it online) This curling iron rocks my world. I normally won't hold a curl for more than a couple of hours. With this, it stays wavy (nice waves) until I wash it out. 2 or 3 days. Amaaaazing!

I also started using Ahava Osmoter Serum and so far so good. It's great to put moisture back in your skin but NOT greasy. And smells good. I wanna say it runs about $60. A little on the more expensive side, but I have a feeling the bottle will last a couple of months, so reasonable.

Do any of you ladies color your hair at home? Tell us about your experiences!

Got the fake away kit yesterday at target yesterday, very happy because I had a saleswoman help me find it and there were only two left. Just used it, it is perfect! Love it. I don't like to spend an hour putting on makeup, just a little concealer, gloss, blush. This is perfect, I'm going back to target to get the other one that's left in case they don't reorder! Thank you, I cannot remember who suggested it, but I love it! The dry shampoo I bought sucked, made my hair feel dry, can you tell me the good brand you use, I only have been awake an hour and my memory sucks. Need coffee! Thanks!

Heavenlee, yes he is exactly 18 months old and he's a cutey!!

Beranda, the years have been fairly good to me...also, salt scrubs on my face and stopped with all the tanning almost 10 years ago so that has to have helped!  Thanks, though, because your point about "wee ones" being brutally honest is true...however MINE barely speaks much yet, so when he can say "why mama looks so ugly in the morning?" THEN we'll have a talk about wee ones!!! ROFL

HAIR COLORING:  do mine at home.  Am a dark brunette so it's not so hard.  I LOVE Garnier Nutrisse but honestly, I buy whatever I can find is closest to the shade I want and IS ON SALE GIRLS!!  LOL  One thing I HAVE learned, none of them "wash that grey right outta your hair" even the permanent ones.  I find dyes wash out no matter how carefully I care for my hair with shampoos and such.  Usually fades within 3-4 weeks.

You have to send me a picture, please! I love babies, I only had one, many miscarriages and now I'm too old to have one at 46! I always wanted a baby brother or sister for my son, but I'm grateful to have him!

There is one on ebay for 20 dollars,  I think I am gonna snap it up too.  I just LOVE that lil kit!!! Did you try the lip and cheek stain yet?  I can no longer live without it!!!  So glad you like the kit!

That's so funny, my car is in the shop and my husbands friend came over to drive me to get it, my husband has a DUI from pot, so I have to drive. Anyways, I'm upstairs playing with the kit, and my husbands yelling bill is waiting so I finish up and go downstairs and he said, damn you look beautiful! Absolutely LOVE it, thanks so much, I'm gonna check it out on amazon thanks for the heads up!

Same here.  My hair is dark blonde (with gray) but I color it medium brown..  I ALWAYS fade in about a month.  BUT that is when my grays start peeking out.  My hair grows so frikken fast!!  i usually use preference.  i do my whole head every couple of months or so and just roots every couple of weeks.  I think I might stop coloring one day soon (YEAH RIGHT)/  I have one big silver spot on top of my head and the rest is mostly blonde with some grays mixed in.  I dont know.....

That is AWESOME!!!!!  And I know you look all fresh faced and you cant even see the makeup!!!!

I know, it's perfect, it looks like I'm not wearing hardly any makeup, love the natural look, but age and tanning has made this kit a necessity'

I go to Sally and mix up my own color. I bounce back and forth from Medium Ash Blonde to Medium Ash Brown. Right now my ends are lighter. Not really an ombré look, but leaning to it. I use Ion color and 20% developer. I probably color every 4-6 weeks because I have SO MUCH grey. Ugh.

Every season or so I go have my color done professionally. I don't trust myself to place intentional highlights. But the grey when covered does register as a highlight most of the time.

Not your mothers was the brand of dry shampoo I liked. Spray it in, then brush it out.

Ok I'm new to this nutty thread ...... 4 things. 1. Page 1 or 2 - I dig the Jewy suggested outfit. With all that fur no more waxing for Aunty!! Yee Haw! 2. That Carlton dance is fucking stupid. Stop it. 3. The great fade away always works with men and women. Just never text back. She'll think you're just busy then hopefully you'll avoid here. 4. Stop washing your hair. No dry shampoo and no wet. Eventually your body will reset and you won't feel greasy. My hair is pretty decent if I do say so myself (it's really short so no hiding in a bun or braid) and I don't shampooed in I don't know how long- my hair stylist doesn't even wash it. Only water.

Ok so I think that sums it up. APP will be back later with more sage advice/comments

My personal favorite trick for my face or any body part is to get a loofa type cloth, drench it with a moisturizing cleanser, and then dip it in a bowl of KOSHER SALT and scrub scrub scrub!!!  I swear when I do this to cleanse my face it feels and looks like my baby's bottom!!  Of course if  u have super-sens. skin may not be a great idea.
Great idea, MLC, I'm gonna try that on my face. I've used a pumice stone instead of a wash cloth for years & years, and I get compliments on my skin's texture & tone. You do have to be careful, and go very easy when you first start using the stone -- more rubbing than scrubbing, especially on your face!

The bonus part is that after a couple of decades of basically having a rock dragged over it daily, the hair on my legs & arms is extremely fine & very sparse; I use a depilatory (just on my legs, not arms LOL) about 3 times a year, otherwise, nada. No stubble, ever! -- which I can't stand, except on a man's face...

FUCKING FUCKITY SUCK - I cannot quote posts again

@MSD - I always have wanted to go to Sally's and brew up my own batch.  That would be fun.  Tell me exactly what you do when you get some time.  I am pretty darn good at highlights, do those once a quarter.  Even though I color my hair brown from blonde my ends always turn blonde after a couple weeks.  You know, that lovely, flat blonde that our dishwatery selves get?  Unintentional hombre.  I do not like hombre on anyone over 22 or so.  I have YET to see it done right.  Im just sayin! I am def trying the Not your Mother's stuff.

@Blue - K why am I cracking up?  Lovely visual about the giant rock being dragged over your poor skin.  OW!!! Still, why am I laughing?  The stuff we gals do is CRAAAAZY!!  I am lovin this thread!!!

Cat, LOL! Really -- I remember when I was in grade school, watching my 16-year old cousin put her hair up in these gigantic rollers, almost Coke can-sized. She slept w/ them every night -- how, I couldn't tell ya! I thought she was so beautiful and soooooo sophisticated, I couldn't wait 'til I got to roll up my hair too!

Thank God by the time I got to high school, the style had changed to long straight hippie hair  /default_biggrin.png

So whatcha think?

My husbands almost 20 years my senior and looking at his old year book I'm jealous, long beautiful natural hair and faces, not a ton of makeup! I grew up during the big hair era and neon clothes, stone washed jeans. God it's hilarious looking at my yearbook compared to his! Hippy clothes have really not gone out of style, thanks to the dead, I love them.

Been a very sad few days but 2 complete (irl anyway) strangers cared enough about what I was going through to talk to me about it, though they owe me nothing and have no reason to help my personal pain other than the kindness in their own hearts. Just shows that this place is a real community, not just a forum of people who only care about themselves.

They could have just continued on with the nature or the main purpose of what the relationship between us is, I didn’t really have anybody else to let it out to at the time and they both went far beyond what I’d expect. Not that I’d assumed they’re cold/A-holes - it was just a lot from somebody who’s technically a competent stranger.
