Moneygram Problems

I never use my real info. I always do mine over the phone with the Vcom. they cant ask for ID and if they do I would give false info. I would rather be out 500 than the other.....but to each their own.

and yes the clerk can ask for ID anytime they want...I would say opps left it at home...

down in scotland atleast my neck of the woods WU often ask for i.d wen done in person but wen done over the fone you can get round that obstacle altho the clerk on the other line is often from that part of the world people hate or dont give $$ too so making sure they have understood how to spell the name of the receiver can at times be an issue.

The WalMart in my town started asking for I.D. I mix it up between W.U. and MG also I like a vendor who gives you the option of UPS and Fedex. This makes it a little less obvious. The Fedex guys out perform the UPS delivery time hands down. I guess it costs a little more, but if you have a good relationship with the vendor they take care of it.

This is good to know.

Damn, I just lost my ID. I guess I'll have to visit SR and get another one with my "real" name.

I wouldn't call this "trouble using Monee-Gramm"; but curious  of others' thoughts.

I have not used MG before.

I thought I would call the brick/mortar to confirm that they in fact offer MG services at their photo department; before heading down to find that online info is not accurate.

When I asked the person if the service was available; he stumbled over a "yes, we have that"

Then I asked (more out of the interest to sound like I wasn't some MG Professional).

"And do you have forms there to fill out?"  Mostly as I was curious about these phones I have read about at some locations.

Mr. Helpful got a little "uh uh" and then said, "We have MG here, I am not allowed to tell you anything more or answer any more questions, I can only tell you we have MG here"...

OOOOKay, Sorry to have asked a question not on the study guide.

What's this about do you suppose?

Gotta say, it gave me pause regarding switching back and forth between MG and WU.

Thanks,

Beranda

So, now it is a real question...I guess I had posted it thinking it might draw more attention.  It's ok

As I've said, never used MG.  Why would someone be cryptic on the phone about questions?  Any thoughts?

It gave me the heebies and I hadn't expected that!

I'm thinking of giving WU a little radio silence for a while and trying the MG route; but what up with this response?

Thanks in advance, I may have just been lucky enough to have my call answered by the new guy or the weird guy or the guy that shouldn't really ever answer customer phone calls because his phone courtesy training is scheduled for next week...

Take Care,

Beranda

Yeah, man, dunno if youve figured this out on your own by now, but I think you just got a weirdo. Mg is no big deal, just go in and do it, you'll figure it out no problem. Go to one of the machines and you won't even have to talk to anyone in person! I'd keep it around / below 500 hundred tho, as that is what jewbacca advised when using mG, dunno where that thread is, but he's seems to be a pretty smart wookie so I usually follow his advice...

Where are these machines? Never ever seen one...

Hate the red phone though. Awkward.

They keep em in 7/11s mostly, as far as I know. It's like part ATM, part check machine, part mg. you select what you're interested in doing, talk to the person on the number they give you to call, feed money into the machine and then get your receipt.

Ah, but you still have to talk to someone on the phone. Phooey.
Ha! Yeah, sorry. But better than face to face, no? You could even get one of those voice modulators from the Scream movies if you were really paranoid / anxious / goofy ( / wanted to have the transaction declined). :)

Thank you to those of you who contributed to this thread following my recent posts. Whether they were partially for me or not at all, I appreciate any information from those with more experience than my own.

I think I did just get the 'wrong' person when I called to inquire. A few days ago I experienced a very painless and uneventful MG experience at a large chain retailer. While I won't assume any future visits will replicate this first experience, I got in the pool and it wasn't as deep and as choppy as I had imagined it would be.

Take Care,

B

Yeah, that wouldn't be creepy AT ALL. Lol

I am curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation as myself - I sent a payment through MG, it went through fine, juuust fine - and then the next morning received an e-mail from the vendor saying that their receiver could not pick up the funds because they had already been picked up.  I called MG and the funds had indeed been picked up and was told that the only way that they would have been picked up is if the proper ID would have been shown at the time of pick-up.

The funds were picked up the same day that they were sent.  So...I feel as if I am in a spot where there is absolutely nothing that I can do.

Hello Dorothy,

I have never herd  of that happening. Can MG send you proof of pick up and does receiver have to sign when picking up? If so can MG send you a copy of signature so you can forward it to vendor. Idk maybe receiver is trying to scam both you and vendor, Just a thought. I hope you can get things worked out.

Obviously I know you've been here a long time. But my first thought was is this a new vendor for you? Is it possible you contacted a scammer by accident?

Something just seems wrong about this in regards to most of our vendors. I'd send vendor the timeline of when you sent funds, time you emailed vendor to time picked up. Not sure what else to suggest...

Thank you both for your replies!  /default_smile.png  We actually were able to get it figured out.  The receiver accidentally tried to pick it up twice.  I guess that he didn't have it marked as received from earlier.  I was a little concerned too - but glad that it is figured out now.  Whew!

  1. P @ psychedpsych: Have good day people, and I hate texting messages lol
  2. B @ bigblueallda: @drjimmy1964 lol I am actually surprised it is a real ID. I needed those documents because my license had been expired for over a year and I had to start all over. Nothing was in the system. It was a huge mess. I had no clue I was signing up for Real ID. They asked me for the exact same documents that I needed for a State ID Card.
  3. S @ soupson: bless your heart buddy. no sense of grammar or proper insults/jokes. you need this place in ways i can’t comprehend
  4. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: Sweet Ol' Me asked about Real ID, Stoup. Are you responsive to emails ? LMAO
  5. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: I smell some Stoup. Is Stoup's on ?
  6. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda You win. I am lost. Thought you were surprised your license was a Real ID, now you say you provided those items.
  7. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda I was under the impression that you'd need all of the points to get a real ID . I'd check it's validity if you're gonna fly domestic any time soon, just to make sure. Not to tell you what to do, sorry -
  8. B @ bigblueallda: @drjimmy1964 In my state to get a Real ID, I need SS card, Birth Certificate and two proofs of residency. Which I am positive I had to provide to get a new ID when it had been expired.
  9. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @Turbo259 advertising - putting in writing for example an negative action to show they are guilty prior to taking action.
  10. B @ bigblueallda: I haven't flown in an airplane in 20 years lol. Can't recall the last government building I have been in either. According to the symbol it tells me I should have on my ID to make it a Real ID I do have one in my state

  13. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: @bigblueallda are you sure you have a Real ID ? I mean , they really want 6 points of proof and 1 for your addy and 1 for your SSN. Did you maybe get it done and forgot and flew out of the country or something ?

  15. S @ soupson: did anyone ask about real id or is sweet ol jimmy just rambling
  16. T @ Turbo259: @drjimmy1964 what did you mean by advertise? not gettin the verbiage, DM works if anything, just didnt understand
  17. B @ bigblueallda: {Visit your local Driver Service Bureau with the necessary documents: original birth certificate, Social Security card, and two proofs of your state's residency. } I definitely provided this when I had to get a new ID when i let mine go expired too long maybe I unknowingly got one but I think it is pretty standard here.
  18. B @ bigblueallda: Well it was a state id renewal. Before that there was a mixup and I had lost my birth certficate and social security number. After a couple of weeks and finally getting several documents in order I was able to get a state ID. It had been expired previously for a little too long and they wanted all kinds of proof. It was a mess. But nah I looked up what to look for an my state's ID to see if it is a Real Id or not and my card as the symbol it is supposed to have. I'll take a closer look though

  20. drjimmy1964 @ drjimmy1964: Actually it says "Not For Real ID Purposes". That is my 2022 renewal of my 2018 picture ID. I am not due till 2026 and I am sure they will make me go in since my pic would be 8 years old - they used to make you go in in my state for aging when I was younger, then went paper - then back to picture ( I think 9/11 to blame for that ) but relaxed it.
