Moneygram Troubles!

hi @PTFC is it best to go to the PO and do it? I spoke to mg and they declined, full stop. so online mg has gone pop for me.
Any mg I've ever done has been in person at the PO. Though I believe things have tightened up, (id etc). But it's worth a pop! Some travel agents offer it too.

 
MG has closed my account as well.  In hindsight, I was mostly to blame.

They asked if I knew the person - "Of, course"

What is the money for - "Software" (it just flew right out of my mouth)  The lady disappeared for a few minutes then returned and said a 'security flag' was on my account and they would not process the transaction.

Months later -- same.  I'm still pondering alternative options and hope some vendors embrace digital currency...carrier pigeon...or....?

I'd say --  Think over you answers, go in person, the worst thing that could happen is they tell you no.

 
@reaper I said it was for a christian charity of which my relative was volunteering for, it worked first time round after I gave her the 'do you class everyone a con artist in the Far East' but that was that... god help us if we are up sh1t creak and we need some cash stranded in some far off country. I'm gonna try the PO this week in person or get my kid to do it.

 
So my receiver was flagged after sending donation.

if I go in tomorrow to change receiver, what should I expect? No big deal? Answer some questions and all is kosher? Refunded and told to never come back?

 
@tableforseven,Can I ask you the first letters of the receivers name? Reason I’m asking is on my last transaction they said that this certain receiver has had a number of complaints against them for fraud. They asked me if I was ok with it and I said yes. She said that ultimately it was up to me.

I just like to jump in every so often and say that if you want longevity with mg go in person. Fargo is the only person I know who has beat the odds using online. No questions to answer and way less chance of getting your account shut down.

 
I have talked this morning with some IOP about this and they confirmed me that there is indeed some serious problem with Money gram and Western Union.

Always the same explanation sorry sir receiver is over the limit or sender is over the limit.

It is not only the receivers that are monitored but also the senders.

If you ask them what is the limit nobody can or will answer.

This IOP used a brand new receiver who never had picked up any transaction but unfortunately after a few transactions this brand new receiver was also blocked.

All is getting worser every year and i do not expect that it will be change for the good.

That you like it or not its high time to learn using Bitcoins it is really not so difficult as it looks.

 
If you think that you've been using MG too often then just get a friend to go down with their ID and get it for you.    I don't go often so never had a problem if I went in to CVS to get the MG.  I did it online one time when they made me answer their questions so I told them that I'm a jewelry maker and my old college friend looks for semi precious stones and other interesting pieces that  would make  an unusual article of jewelry.  Ha ha The guy actually stuttered.  Guess he never heard that excuse before.  Another time I was getting "magazines" from a Spanish speaking country so I spoke in a Spanish accent and told him I don't understand much English, was sending money for my nephews birthday and I just didn't speak enough English to answer much more than that!  I don't think he believed me...   hahaha

 
Made another online transfer today. To be honest I don’t have any idea why I have been so successful. Maybe because I been doing it for over 6 years? Maybe because their headquarters are a 4 hour drive from here, or maybe because of all refugees that are settled here that send money back to their country. Who knows what their equation is.

I bet that your long time history is why you are so successful because a lot of us live amongst a population that is sending money home and in my case it is to Mexico. Whatever it is, more power to you, but you are most definitely an exception.

 
I Just sent a payment with WU and it went through last evening, I checked on the status this morning and it was placed on hold... I called and they said the money is ready for pick up.. I asked why it said on hold and they said it's not.. My vendor Emails me saying a hold was on the money. I went onto chat and canceled the order.. No reason given on the hold.

 
@bdrc36 be sure you are br1ck & m0rtering when WU’ing, not sure if this was through the app or ph0ne, n€ver trust€d those things. I hawk eye the Ag€nt and h0ld up an ent1re line until I’m sat1sfi€d lol.

I did agent once.. got grilled about who,what,when... she could see i was getting annoyed.  This was my first order btw.. after that i just did online since i could use my cc card.. agent only would take cash.. i ended up using the other service and it worked out.. the vendor was cool about it. He already gave the shipper the ok to send out the product before i even sent the payment again.. I'm not sure if the reciever or I got flagged since the original payment went through and was ready for pickup till this afternoon.  I even called and asked and they said everything was fine for pickup even tho i kept saying it was on hold.  I called wu twice

I am going through the same thing with wu I went back to the wu three times yesterday to be told it was ready for pickup when the receiver told me it was on hold and when I search it online it says its on hold I do not know what to do!

All of their on line tracking was saying on hold.  Even if it was an old transfer that was already picked up.  It is a glitch in their system.  To get the correct tracking call the 800 phone number and track it that way and it should tell you that your transfer is available.  Anyway I think it's corrected by now.
