THE BEST DRUG SONGS - EVER!

Thought I'd check on how this thread's progressing. Very impressed with a lot of posts. Miley Cyrus? WTF? I KNOW she was a very precocioius, even ADULT writer at the tender age of 12 but to appear in lists of druggie songs? I just don't know but I am a very open person and will lizten to her early stuff. Ke$ha, yeah, great vid based on Beatles' 'Yellow Sub', but great? I mean songs and music?

'Dead Flowers'. Can not fault that choice. Is that a different version than the original?

Ditch, there's a fine line between genius and insanity, and I can't make my mind up about you. Perhaps your tongue is in your cheek and you have a long harboured desire to go into standup comedy? Whatever, you are entertaining me!

But Justin Bieber, a cross between Zep & the Doors? That HAS to be comedy. Please say you're not serious!

I can't, despite lots of thinking, find the words that would describe my feelings on this topic towards Miley Cyrus or Ke$ha. Well, I can, but don't want an infraction for 'pornography'!!! No, they are indeed both, as a man with healthy testosterone levels, errrm, desirable, which is the most innocent word I could come up with.

And finally, though not a 'drug song' but one which is eminently listenable whilst stoned, remember yet another 1966/7 song, the Monkees' 'Daydream Believer' which has never been out of my top 5 pop singles ever, and give a moment's silence in memory of Davy Jones, taken too soon. As so many in the music business. At least he survived well beyond the far too big '27 Club'. Yhink of all who passed at 27. Janis, Jimi, James Morrison, Al thingy from Canned Heat, mote recently the remarkable Amy Winehouse... Tjat list goes on. What age was Cass Elliot?

Anyway I'm impressed, and if there are still some of you who don't know the La's 'There She Goes' or Spiritualized, the whole album, 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space' (1995 or so) then LISTEN TO THEM!!!

Enjoy your sounds, friends! Your everlasting hippie correspondent,

Absorbaloff

By the way, Weedpete in particular, and all who remember good acid and a smoke of fine weed, never forget the multinational band who lived communally for 40 years, GONG. Pure genius with Bloomdido Bad de Grasse (Didier Malherbe) playing wind instruments like nobody else, all led by the Aussie Hippie Spectaculaire, Daevid Allen. Yes, the spellig's right. Get on Google and Wuzam and find their stuff like 'Camembert Electrique' and 'Flying Teapot'. You will not be disappointed!

I have to toss a vote in here:

My favorite singer/songwriter of ALL time is Jackson Browne. What a talented man. He went a little sideways on me with his Lawyers In Love album, but I've forgiven him for that! ;-)

I saw him the first of many times in '78 I think it was....he played Cocaine (you take sally, I'll take sue, there ain't no difference between the two, cocaine, running all round my brain...) and when he was done, he leaned over and did a line off the top of his incredibly beautiful black baby grand!

Gawd I miss those days!!

Then there is his song Your Bright Baby Blues (it's so hard to come by that feeling of peace, this friend of mine said, close your eyes and try a few of these, I thought I was flying like a bird, so far above my sorrow but when I looked down I was standing on my knees...)

Powerful words there, huh?

Sorry EndGame, but in my humble opinion that music and video you chose really sucked.

On the flip side, I'm sure you're not a big fan of The Pointer Sister and New Kids on the Block, like I am.

So, to each his own.

Mind you, this song really gets me pumped up before a big night out. Maybe you too. Totally awesome and gnarly.

I can remember being at this concert in 1968, laying in a ditch next to the outhouses, like it was just yesterday. This was when music meant something and singers sang with absolute passion and focus. Besides Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, in my atrocious mind there are very few musical legends still alive.

Sit back and get ready to trip out!

How about "puff the magic dragon" by Peter, Paul and Mary. It has been interpreted by many as someone smoking mj.

Anything by Wiz Khalifa really. (my idol)

Snoop Dog has some rad stuff. (Tha Doggfather)

Kesha Your Love Is My Drug.

So much more.

Some music I like to listen while on opiates:

On my Tilidin playlist:

I thought "The Vicodin Song" by Terra Naomi was nice.

Not much about the drug, even though it comes up in the lyrics though.

  1. xenxra @ xenxra: @WTF7218 it may as well be that way with how little effort some of the people on here make to find information that's exactly where you would expect it to be.
  2. ontovzik @ ontovzik: When I had long term shingles, lasting two months. All he could give me was a 10 day supply of dilaudid. He looked at the ground while we were talking about it. I could tell he was ashamed but it was the legislature and the governor that tied his hands. He was very upset that non-medical political people, the media, and the scared public were controlling how he treated his patients. Someday those people will need meds and a hospital bed and they will be gone.
  3. ontovzik @ ontovzik: I had a great doctor, he had the true gift of a healer and he stayed on top of all the science. He straight up told me that for many people opiods work for managing short and long term pain.
  4. ontovzik @ ontovzik: He peed it in the snow in my backyard.
  5. WTF7218 @ WTF7218: @xenxra 😆😂. Yes, but only a few brave souls will ever find the number. You must first order a Dirty Shirley from the bartender. Then you must discreetly take the cocktail napkin from under your drink and unfold it. There you will find the map to the location of the phone number, and clues to decipher the code that it is written in.
  6. xenxra @ xenxra: he left his phone number scribbled in a stall at the pub three blocks down
  7. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar I would try one of those easy online ones .. reddit gives useful info about that
  8. Alkazar @ Alkazar: @NYStateofMind I dont really have a history of abusing things, my docotr is just really stingy. I am thinking of switching.
  9. C @ Cheesus: Thanks xenxra
  10. xenxra @ xenxra: @Cheesus yeah, use snote
  11. P @ psychedpsych: Trump is cracking down….
  12. P @ psychedpsych: Hackers are the scum of the earth
  13. N @ NYStateofMind: so it was easy bc of my history
  14. N @ NYStateofMind: I didnt really tell him but he knew I needed a new script since my dr went to jail
  15. N @ NYStateofMind: @xenxra I was on Adderall since 15 years ago so my dr prescribed that w no problems and then when I lost my best friend my doctor rxed the valiums but
  16. C @ Cheesus: Temp.pm down for anyone else?
  17. xenxra @ xenxra: @NYStateofMind my doctor's have always been pretty open minded if i can actually come in and explain the pharmacological action of the drugs im seeking instead of just telling them why i think i should be prescribed. the only time it didn't work out for me is when i was trying pharmaceuticals for depression ten years ago and suggested they let me try testosterone instead (turns out i was hypogonadal so they made a mistake denying my request at face value)
  18. T @ Testisthebest: Even down here in Florida when the pill mill docs all switched over to Suboxone and/or retired you can still find some pretty liberal docs but you gotta know what to look for. Mine does "pain management, detox, anxiety, etc. And no insurance. My doc writes me 60 5mg Valium, 14 2mg Xanax and asked if I had ever tried adderal to get more focus at work as I told him I run my own business.
  19. N @ NYStateofMind: @Alkazar do they know your history? Like I dont tell my doctor anything about myself except what they need to know,...I was able to get my dr to rx the highest dose of adderall along with valiums ..... if they dont know your history or there is no history I would just come out and ask what is the reason for their mistreatment.... they have no problem billing your insurance or taking a payment for the visit
  20. T @ Turbo259: @Layne_Cobain Thank you fam
