Men, Dating And Sex?

Also, regarding your situation, I am happy for you. I have learned the hard way that honesty is DEFINITELY always the best policy. I am glad it worked for you!

Yay!

Holy crap! Plenty of Fish...I nicknamed it Plenty of Shit! My friend convinced me to join and that was the worst online dating site EVER! I've never met so many men who could not carry on a conversation, married men trying to creep, men treating you like a whore and the list goes on. It's like all the weirdos go there just because it's free and they don't want to put any effort into anything. I met a guy on there who at first was really super nice. We went to a football game on our second date and I really loved it. I thought now this is what I'm talking about. Then after the game we got in his SUV to head home and then he looked at me and told me he wanted to rip my clothes off and phuck me right there. I demanded him to take me home. I felt violated....it was awful, especially after having such fun at the football game.

I think I was on POS for like 2 weeks and called it quits. OK Cupid is no different!
For the record, the women on POF aren't much better. My best friend hit that site up for about 6 months, and went on about 10 dates, and talked to tons of girls. He said it's full of junkies, BBW's, (I have nothing against the bigger girls, so nobody throw stones) gold diggers, and mental cases...?? I have popped on the site a few times to check it out, but haven't signed up, as I am recently single again..

So the other sites are bad too? God! My Otter said he met one girl before me and literally RAN when she acknowledged him at the restaraunt. And she chased him! Apparently, she had posted an old/fake pic. Why the hell do people do that? Looks dont matter THAT much, do they? I mean, they matter somewhat but how embarrassed would you be when finally meeting someone if you are older/fatter/different than your pic? Why are people so fake? All good people are beautiful! Or tell the people before hand tha it is an old pic, or something? We talked for weeks online first before we even exchanged phone nos. poor guy!

I need to go look now........if my Otter sees me on a dating site, you guys need to splain! Lol! Jk i know he trusts me

I had the same thing happen to me Cat about 5 years ago. I met a girl online who was 3 hours away. Drove 3 hours, and met her at a Starbucks. She had sent me a picture that was 10 years older and 3 kids earlier...I kept my cool at Starbucks, (even though I was really pissed off) (by the way, she brought all 3 kids to meet up with me at Starbucks..wtf) Long story short, she wanted me to follow her to the park, so her kids could play, and we could talk some more. I agree, and we left...I took the first on ramp to the freeway home, blocked her number from my cell, and the rest is history!

Oh my GAWD. Smart move! I was really lucky with the Otter I guess! I canceled on him like five times when we were sposed to meet.....lol! I was terrified!

hey, i was just talking about you in the "why is there a VIP section" thread. Check it out

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I totally believe you. I've heard men complain how women misrepresent their bodies.........posting pictures of themselves when they were thinner or loaded with makeup only to look completely different in real life. Expecting men to treat them like princesses when they are rude and snobby. I just think the dating scene is pathetic at best and the internet makes it worse. I think with online dating everybody is trying to meet everybody and most people think there is always something better so in turn they miss out on good potential mates. Also I think we go into online dating with our rigid preferences and don't think outside of the box and this limits us greatly. For example, most all women want taller men, however if the average woman met a shorter guy in real life and the chemistry was great she would have no problem overlooking this. Online dating doesn't allow for this. We see a profile and a picture and that's it. If it's not what we want on paper, we move on with no investment.

I've been told by all men that I met online that I'm gorgeous in person but my pictures don't do me justice. I know this to be true because I've known since a teenager that I wasn't photogenic at all. I even went so far as to do research on what causes people to not be photogenic and there are some interesting theories and evidence about it. So imagine all the guys who passed me over because I didn't look stunning in my picture or my smile was too wide....lol.

But as Roger stated....online dating is here to stay and what else is there. So we are stuck with it. I think it's all dating sites to be honest....POF, OK Cupid, Match, Eharmony, all which I or my friends have tried.

Someone has to tap into that psychosocial area to find a way to curtail the meat market experience and get compatible people hooked up. I got accepted (haven't started) to work on my doctorate in Psychology and this might be a great area to study and do research.

Congrats all honey! That is a huge deal. My first degree was in Psych. Just a BS tho. That was a loooooooong time ago.

Ooohhhhhhh you must have FUN thinking about people on this board! Lol! Did you get your Masters lately or a long time ago? Anyway, that is Such a huge deal! Yay!

I think looks DO Matter, and are pretty important. There has to be a general physical attraction for chemistry. It's 2015, and if you have the technology to get on the internet, you sure as hell should have the technology to take a current picture. Digital cameras are like 5 bucks these days, and most everyone has a smartphone! Not to mention, that sending an old pic that looks nothing like the way you look now, is deceiving and just not good online dating etiquette, in general. Just my 2 1/2 cents...

I wholeheartedly agree! I like to think I'm not shallow but someone's picture does matter to me. I'm not saying they need to be hot but at least appealing to me. I met a guy online about ten years ago and according to his pictures, he was a great looking guy with a great body. Well I meet him and it was obvious his pictures were at least 10 years old and at least thirty pounds lighter. He still wasn't bad looking but the fact that he misrepresented himself totally turned me off and I didn't see him again.

Thanks Cat! I got my Masters in 2010 which feels like so long ago with the way time flies...lol. No worries....I never judge anyone on here. I'm quite a character myself!

I think you misunderstood me......looks do matter!

I kind of meant they dont matter enough to lie about it. There will always be people that will like you for you....right? Why waste your time with an old pic? Of course there MUST be attraction......

The whole deception thing would turn me off as well. Badly. One thing I absolutely require in a partner is self esteem/confidence, not stuck up tho. It is really really important that the guy have a head on his shoulders too.

I remember meeting a guy online once who looked great in his pictures....not hot but great. When we met his hair was mostly gray, unlike the picture and clearly he posted a picture that had to be at least 20 years old or more. I swear in the picture he looked like he was in his late 30s and in real life looked about 60....yeah that's what I said! Why would anyone do that. They are setting themselves up to be crushed. I mean I know you want someone to give you some attention but at least be honest. In the end, you are getting hurt.

I Totally Agree honey...Peeps who post old pics finish last! (It's no longer, "nice guys finish last")

That's too funny! AFF love match. I used to be embarrassed to say "we met in a bar". We always have to go through a few dicks to find a good man. Cat just took it literally.

I remember the days when you never said that you met online. Now it's just the norm. But AFF is a little crazy. 😳 Lots of swinging going on in there, not that I have anything against that. It was just a little shocking to me how many times I'd get hit up by a couple wanting me to join them. LOL.

  4. ClintEastwood @ ClintEastwood: Robert Duvall and a handful of others were a younger actors coach and always said no one worked as hard as those guys did. Robert Duvall and rest would read the full script 228 over and over, then after the last read they would go into how to perform their character. The young man had made it to meet Al who are greats and pull them to the side. And explain what his coach said. They all looked back and said out of every role you’ve seen me in. I have read it 228 by myself. 🫡 🫢 🫢 🫢

  11. Realbenzeyes @ Realbenzeyes: I just wish the opioid epidemic never happened. Fk the turn of the century (which would be cool no doubt)! Many of my friends and family would’ve ended up in asylums like so many others. I just wish I could get back all those I’ve lost since the start
  12. L @ Layne_Cobain: 1914 I meant
  13. L @ Layne_Cobain: I often wish I lived during the turn of the century or at least before the Harrison narcotics act or whatever I think it was 1924 the fun ended but anyway yeh being able to get laudanum, ❄️ and amphetamine at the local friendly pharmacy
  14. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Chew on the leaves with a bit of slaked lime and enjoy the mild boost you get from the raw base.
  15. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I’m sure you know the folks in the mountainous regions along South Americas pacific side buy cócà leaves at the local farmers market just to help acclimate to the higher elevation when they have to head up into the hills.
  16. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I would certainly have bought it, swilled it, enjoyed it…. Why not? A little boost in your juice isn’t going to hurt anyone.
  17. R @ Royboy99: Exports were reported to have around 7.2mg per FL OZ, it’s success is what actually led to Coca Cola
  18. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: Having cramps and husband thinks you’re acting hysterical (ie. PMS) the doc would either perform a certain massage to relieve the strains of motherhood and family life of that time or send you down to the local apothecary for a bottle of laudanum… A tincture of alcohol and 10% òpìųm. Fun days huh?
  19. R @ Royboy99: @malestrom: yeah thats it, my bad Mariani, yeah i considered that and also its ROA, which was oral so the bioavailability was lower than insufflation, higher degree of purity tho and longer duration … there was a significant marked increase of patents filed by Edison during the time it was released in the US. Presidents were known to use it as well, and the Queen. The pope awarded the wine the Vatican gold medal award
  20. Maelstrom @ Maelstrom: I think it was called vin Mariani. But yeah, it was all the rave back in the turn to the 20th century. Original formula Coca Cola did it for a while too. I think it was pretty weak though. Something like 200 mg per liter of wine. Enough to maybe give you a little push but unless you could pound some serious alcohol, it’d be hard to really feel the effects before the ethyl knocked you down on the ground. It was an interesting time period. Laudanum was a “hysterical” woman’s best friend.
