Moneygram Troubles!

I often just use different stores that offer money gram, and since they are often required to ask if you know the receiver, I frequently tell them that my brother is in Peace Corps and that is his platoon guide. I usually have some sort of b******* story to go along, such as, this is the guy that made sure he didn't skip his antimalarials to have a drink one night, and it was just as well!  I have never used an alias, but I try to keep the mail to sporadic pax with Qty. I live in a fairly small town where the locals know that my mother is an immigrant, so I don't think they question International mail. Luckily for me, I often have packages coming from the UK, and more than once they have been visibly torn only to reveal jammie Dodgers or chocolate digestives.
You guys/gals are freaking me out. I've never been asked if i know the receivor...oh maybe once many, many moons ago when the alphabets starting to clamp down. I go do my biz in a busy grocery store----where there's a line of peeps and they (the clerk) just wanna haul ass to get back at their stations....so non of the nonsense q's. However, having so much info -- yes, I use my real name. I've had to get refunded $100's over the years due mainly to switching up rec. names and y'all know, gotsa show ID....and I'm a crazy ass risk taker (AKA too lazy); and maybe too, it's where I live.....a big city....but still, reading this, gives me shimmers. PLEASE no lectures....just sayin'....hope I stay lucky./default_ph34r.png

I recently tried to send money south of the border through MG. They called and asked a dozen questions and I told them it was for artwork that I wanted to purchase off the internet,  etc... they still denied the transfer!

I ended up using WU and they called with the same questions. I ended up telling them it was for rent for my girlfriends aunt and to feed her kids....  Money went through.....  All I can say is LIE LIE LIE!!!!!!

Better yet, go send it in person at a big box store. No phone calls and just one lie. That's when they ask if you know the person and you say yes.

Yep, Do not say you are buying something; product or service, they'll deny the trans every time.  Always say you are loaning or repaying a loan to cousins or other relatives and that you will be sending more on a regular basis.  That fits the reason most transfer down south.
Habitat for Humanity; time-share payment; church mission donations; disaster relief (earthquakes/floods) -- good one now as Mex just suffered some destructive damage due to floods; but like someone here said: just go to a busy grocery/box store; staff don't care they make the phone calls to the agent; i havent shown my ID in years (at these places) not if u go into an actual alphabet -only store. cheers

??I wish I would have read this thread before I placed an order TWO times using my online MG account!! O. M. G❗❗❗❗❗

They sent me an email asking me to call them regarding my transaction.  Eeeek!

I haven't called them back yet.  Oh Holy moly...

IM going to call them back in the am and tell them I was sending money for church mission work like 2earls suggested.  Ughhhhhh.  I dislike confrontation because I get a little edgy.  That's my nice word for F'in pissed. Ha!

Yes, let me reiterate. Online is NOT encouraged. It's so much easier in the long run to go in person. Even that will become more difficult in the near future.  I  know a few vendors are working on alternate payment methods and we are all going to have to become comfortable with them if we want to keep ordering.

With Moneygram, Always check the boxes that you are not sending for goods or services. Also, get yourself a Netspend card. They are universally accepted everywhere, and I have never had a problem.

Yes, I have a netspend card that is connected to my MG account and I never check the selling box.  I use my netspend for everything except PayPal, which is a WHOLE OTHER STORY IN ITSELF .

is that what you mean? Having the netspend connected to the MG?

Yes. Use your Netspend card for MG. And always check that you are not sending for goods or services. This will make MG think that the money is for family or extended family. If they ask, you have inlaws, cousins, aunts, uncles etc. in the receiving country.

Ok.  I need to call MG this morning. If they don't push it through, and if I don't get banned, maybe I should go to a location instead of online,?

Yeah, definately!  Let us know how you get on with it of course.

I just called moneygram back and HALLELUJAH!!!!  It went through !!!

@2earls,  ?I would have NEVER done it without your ? church mission suggestion.   Many thanks... You have been my ?angel through this... Don't happen to be gay do you? ??? I'M KIDDING!! ?

They asked me how i knew receiver and i told him i was a part of a group within the church that sends money to certain locations for mission work .. And ??? BOOM ??CHICKA BOW WOW❗❗❗

He asked how often i would be sending money and i said i planned to often but if they thought it best that i waited in between transfers, i would be happy to do that because i didn't want to break any rules so to please let me know what they preferred.?  Lol.  ?

Too badI'm not getting anything good in the mail.  Lol.

YEA I TELL  them im helping a friend with rent, that had helped me in the past :).

I think they can see the LONG list of different people I have sent to, so a story that would explain why I never send to the same person is in order. My church group assists a different needy family each month. Sometimes we raise more money than others/default_ph34r.png

i say different people from same family pic it up...since its always goes to same place.

Naaaah , just be sure to tell them that your sending money to help someone you know.....  Don't be nervous all they can do is not send the money.

there a problem with that because they ask more then that so u really do have to get into detail..which stinks in itself

This time I went in to a little mom and pop grocery store and sent two MG's to two different people for the exact same amount (cash) ......  They never asked me a thing.  Money went right through......  Maybe it's best to work in cash and in person.

Ok, so it happened to me today. Tried to use MG for the 4th time (total) and the transfer did not go through. I was asked to call customer service. I have read enough on this forum to know what that means. I tried to call 2 different times just being put on hold and never actually getting a live person before hanging up. I'm really nervous about this as I think the church money donation excuse is probably the best to use to compensate for my track record of sending to different names. Just wondering what my next steps should be, tried to cancel the transaction online but it would not cancel. Should I go in store and try or can someone pm me a foolproof excuse? I must admit I'm scared the church excuse won't fly from me cause it's so far fetched for me. Thanks to all - just looking for any new ways (if there are any) to get this transaction to go through.

You reached out to me in dm on your last login, saying I could get whatever I wanted from vendors that knew you and you'd pay for it all. All because I helped someone get through hard times. I didn't expect anything in return and we agreed on @CnC5 she asked if I was sure and that's her last seen date. Rest in peace. Rejoice with lose ones.
