For those new to cryptocurrency and considering the services of paxful, you should be aware of and take precaution with this.  Paxful is a peer to peer trading platform, so you are exposed to fraud and theft by those offering to provide and accept your coins.  This is not to say paxful itself is suspect, but individuals who use the platform to broker your transactions may be.  There are more legitimate exchanges and wallets available that can provide the anonimity you seek without this risk paxful exposes you to potentially.   However, if you know them or trust them, then it is much safer, of course.

Just a friendly head's up everyone.  ✌️

@Avidtoy thanks for the information and if you would be willing to share some of these anonymous options it would be very helpful. It wasn't a big issue with me to buy anonymously, but I am sure it is to some members.

Hi again,

I certainly did not mean to sound alarming with my comment last night.  I have friends that use paxful, and they've never had a problem that I'm aware of.  I just wanted to make sure you all know it's a p2p transaction, so the risk is there you might come across someone with bad intent.

As for other anonymous options, there are so many different ways.  You'll read that some think one is better than the other, but who really knows if any way is truly anonymous?  When I first started trading cryptos, I did so to profit without paying taxes, but I no longer do it that way anymore.  I think the best chance to make it truly anonymos takes a multi-faceted approach, and it takes a lot of work - you can get your Tor browser and safeguard further by running it through your own personal VPN, and these are just to hide your online activity.  Many people say that bitcoin is never anonymous and that there are a few coins that are, like Zcash or Monero, so some of my friends will send their bitcoin to another exchange like Poloniex, buy Zcash with their bitcoin, then send their monero to a different exchange, convert back to bitcoin, then send to one of their wallets or directly to a vendor's bitcoin address and so, by doing all this, they say that the blockchain no longer is able to trace it back to your original bitcoin address.   Sound ridiculous?  Yes, it does, but many think that by doing all this moving and converting back and forth, they've now made their coin anonymous.   Maybe they have, but who really knows?  Personally, I think the geniuses working at the NSA with their computational ability and meta data they have, they can figure out anything, trace anything, if they wanted to.

So, sorry for this long-winded answer, but that's how people are doing their best to keep their BTC transactions anonymous.  And these are just ways that I am aware of.  It's a lot of effort.   If you know or trust the person on the other end thru paxful, or localbitcoins, or whatever p2p platform, you'll likely not run into an issue, but the risk is there, and besides, it's much easier than trying to do all the stuff I just outlined.

How about the rise in BTC! Who is buying, and any thoughts on the upcoming fork pertaining to the bitcoin gold? lol. Maybe more free $ if its stored in the correct wallet off the exchange. I'm no pro, but I know I got me some Bitcoin cash Aug. 1 with that one. Apparently, next month their is another crypto move that may either make or break a popular crypto. That's what I read anyways

Thanks

Oh, and are ico's just a coin that people are creating in hopes of it catching on, or have I interpreted this entirely wrong. Anyone looking at NEO?

I'd like to buy but man broke days ahead.   I bought $40 reminds me I have to figure out how to fix gemeini

Holy Crap, did you all see how much that Bitcoin Cash went up In the past 24 hrs.?

IF YOU HAD BITCOIN BEFORE AUGUST 1ST OF 2017, YOU HAVE BITCOIN CASH.

Keep your eyes on Bitcoin cash Folks, (BCC) The fork got cancelled and this is why, it was easy to have accrued thousands if you were on top of it. It still is.

It increased about 1200% from the last time I had looked at it last night. It was just for about a hr. (last time I looked at the going rate of BCC it was about $300.) It was beyond $4000!! Now hovering about 1300 or so.

But, I also read that BTC is dead. I personally am going with bitcoin core BTC fyi.

I exchanged on Bittrex.com and sold BCC for BTC instantly.

@Natty  My btc has gone down $200 in just a few days.  Can you explain BTC core like you were talking to a fourth grader,  how it's different than btc and do btc places take it.

BTC is Bitcoin core. Its the original. That is what I read today. Again, I am no expert at this, but BTC dips every Friday it seems. I will explain when I have more time, or to a specific question rather. Just read up. I read all day. I still am learning. If I was off tomorrow, I would be reading all day then as well.

I also had a great rise and then a steep drop, though I'm still "up" as it were. Volatile is even a weak term to describe BTC!

did you take advantage of the BTC and BCC fork on Aug 1st.?

I had over $700, then it went down to $500, then back up to over $700 ( all in a week or so).  When it was up I spent $160, and was down to $588 or somoething and now I'm  over $600.  Considering I only started wtih $200 i'm happy.

Oh @PTFC  How to go I from one wallet to another on electrum.? I know it's someothing in the toolbar.  Restore or go to new? But I want to move my BTC to another wallet and I'm baffled.

I am pretty sure go to new, bit I haven't used the desktop version for ages, I've been on the app almost exclusively except for creating the wallet.

They don't have an app for IOS. I created the wallet, I just don't know how to clean out the main wallet of all money and put it in the second one.   I knw I have a second wallet.  have the seed but Like someone said coinbase lets you take all money out but electrum doesn't tell you how to transfer money from one wallet to another.  Do I get a wallet address to the new wallet then log out of it and go o the first wallet and send the money but how do I get every penny?  satoshis baffle me

If its another wallet, it must have it's own address. Try transferring a small amount first?

I have a second wallet.  I just don't have the brain power right now to dig out the seed and move a small amount.  I still don't know how to empty the wallet completely so there's nothing left afger fees are paid.   Coinbase lets you do that.  I've looked at some forums but no one says how to do it.   Also I know some have set up breadwallet but I forget how to use that.   My brain is just a screwed up mess right now.  I can't put two words together.

Oh and so I have to go to wallet 2 and get an address, then log out and go back to wallet 1 and send some money to wallet 2 and see if it goes?   if that works still doesn't tell me how to get every cent out.

On another subject 2 weeks ago I spent $160 btc on some stuff.  I'm back up to that amount again.  Should have bought some when it was lower.

GreenAddress is a decent wallet.  I use it often when xferring from coinbase to it in order to make purchases.   Easy.

  5. xenxra @ xenxra: @CalFresh if you are able to DM me (in a secure manner) the transactions associated with your btc theft, i can look into that part for you at least. i;m still 99% certain if the fbi didn't discard my leads they could have gotten some of my coins back and considering you had your coins stolen within the us, you have a much better chance of recovery than me. unless they went through mixers i could probably trace them myself.
  6. O @ Outsider9173: @CalFresh Haven't been here long but I want to wish you a fast recovery

  12. mellowella @ mellowella: @CalFresh are you and your family safe? You’ve helped me in a pinch and were more than generous, and I’m sure you’ve helped others. How can we help you? Does it help at all if we completely buy out what’s left? Maybe that gives time and funds to restock and rebuild? I don’t want to break any rules here, but please let us know if we can do anything. All on your time of course.
  13. CalFresh @ CalFresh: thanks guys. I'm pulling together what I have left and leaning on the kindness of folks who support me to restock my shelves so that I can keep the lights on. Having my savings drained and my security vanish in an instant is paralyzing and the repercussions will only be realized in the coming days and weeks. for now I'm just trying to stay focused on the immediate priorities for ensuring this doesn't. cause cataclysmic failure to the life I've built for my children and I.

They stole everything I had in my home: cash, electronics, and mags, and forced me to transfer $20K in Bitcoin. it is a huge loss and I'm still reeling trying to figure out what i.can do to recover. For now I'm just trying to secure what little I have left so they can't take anything else. I'm telling you guys cause theres not many others I can tell. please bare w/ me, it'll take a few days to get back up and running
  20. CnC5 @ CnC5: @xenxra awesome
